Where can I study abroad?

Modules taught in English

  • Institutions which offer modules taught in English are indicated in the lists below, however you should conduct your own independent research especially as the module offering may vary across different semesters and across departments and disciplines.

  • Module offerings in English may be limited and such modules are likely to be in high demand. When researching your placement ensure the institution you wish to study at has enough modules taught in English available for you to take a full course load over the duration of your placement with additional reserve modules.

  • If you wish to take modules in the host language please ensure you have the required level for admission and could provide suitable evidence of language proficiency if required.

Combined Honours students (including FCH)

  • Combined Honours students must only submit one application. They are not permitted to make an application through both of their disciplines.
  • If you major in one subject, you must choose from the department with which you major. For example, if you major in Anthropology, you must apply for an Anthropology partner university.
  • If you study two disciplines equally, you can choose from either department list (please note you cannot pick from both lists). For example, if you study Management and History, you can apply for either a Humanities or a Business School partner university.
  • If you are combined honours with Modern Languages or you are on a Modern Languages pathway, you must choose from the relevant Modern Languages list of partner universities.
  • Please check with the Study Abroad Coordinator for your relevant discipline for more information about their Study Abroad module requirements. You may be able to study your other subject(s) at your chosen university, but often 75% of your classes abroad will need to be in the discipline with which you take your Sheefield Study Abroad module.

Please note that exchange partners listed on these pages are subject to change and cannot be guaranteed. We advise that you research a range of destinations when choosing where you would like to study abroad.

Information relating to language requirements is subject to change.  The qualification levels listed should be used as a guide only. Please check the host university admissions requirements for up-to-date admissions information.
